I've seen Google index back-links that bring up sites where the word doesn't exist. I've done this several times but I don't see the link data in Webmaster tools, which is supposed to show all links, but I'm not so sure. I'm starting a test with another keyword not on a target site. I'll find out when it shows up but nothing gets reported in webmaster tools. Is Google selective about letting you know just what sources link to your site?
